Today and tomorrow continues to stay hot for Southern California though it will start to cool down a bit tomorrow and even more through the weekend. The wildfires still continue to burn, the most noteworthy for near Carlsbad (but also for Lompoc), but I don’t see any relief until the weekend with the heat and the winds still playing a role for the fires. If you are near the wildfires, listen to the warnings and evacuate if they tell you too. The good news is that it there is slight cooling for the weekend, and there might even be a very small chance of rain for late next week. For now, highs in the lower 90’s (triple digits inland), lows in the 60’s, some locally gusty winds at times but otherwise light for the most part, and mostly clear skies.

4/17/14 Forecast

As an upper level trough approaches the SoCal region, temperatures will still be cool as well as increase clouds through early Saturday with a small chance of showers for early Friday. The scattered rain (drizzle) looks to be mostly confined to the morning hours in the mountains, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a sprinkle at times throughout Friday elsewhere but it really depends on the cloud coverage. Much of the weekend into Monday will warm back up into the 80’s for the valleys, until Tuesday where things will cool down once again. For now, highs in the lower 70’s/upper 60’s, lows in the 50’s, light winds for the most part, and partly/mostly cloudy skies.
